Location

This is just one of those many economy-class motels that can be found along various stretches of United States highway. A welcoming sign beckons travelers with a cheerful-looking tiki and gaily-painted torches accenting the tropical-tinged letters reading "Tiki Inn".

It's laid out much like the typical motor lodging, with two floors all arranged in a wrap-around T shape, doors facing out to the parking. With a green and gold color scheme to match the themed accents, the Tiki Inn seems like a celebration of retro kitsch. Even the keys to the rooms come on a ring with the iconic tiki from the sign on it, and of course the lobby and front desk continue the motif.

A decent-sized pool, quite naturally surrounded with tiki poles and torches, comes alive at night. Nearby, in the open covered passage connecting the walkways outside of the rooms to the lobby, rests a nook with vending machines and an ice machine, with another such area on the opposite end of the T shape.

Motel Room Description[]

The room is welcoming and clean, though everything seems to have a certain age to it. The retro kitsch theme continues with the wallpaper and room divider, all with tiki designs, though fortunately the wallpaper is more subtle. The carpet is 50s-style decorative and fairly low, for easy cleaning. A small table with two chairs sits near the window, next to the air conditioner. A small entertainment center with drawers and a television lies across from the two beds, bedclothes matching the rest of the color scheme and motif, a bedstand between them with, naturally, a tiki lamp on it with a pull cord. A bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower with tub lies behind a door just the other side of the divider.
