One of the Charmed Ones

Character

Eldest sister of the prophesied Charmed Ones, Prue is known in some circles of the supernatural for the grand destiny of her lineage. She has achieved some note as a remarkably skilled appraiser of antiques and ancient artifacts.

Personality[]

Prue is the classic oldest sibling; she was never really allowed to have a childhood and instead was expected to act in a parental capacity for her younger sisters. She tends to take tremendous responsibility upon herself and, to those who don't know her well, can sometimes seem like she's all business, all the time. It's true that she doesn't let people get too close very quickly, and most of the time, her priorities will be on the most serious thing and the most dangerous.

Still, she tends to find delight in simple things that most people take for granted. If someone can get past her tough exterior, they'll find a loyal friend for life. She's plain-spoken and a keen judge of character, but she's not beyond being proven wrong with her assumptions about someone. Sometimes, she can be incredibly stubborn, but part of that is due to her life experience in needing to stick to her convictions, and part of that is the role she was forced to assume at an early age. Prue always had to be the parent.

SKILLS[]

APPRAISAL[]

Expert

Prue is an absolute genius at appraisal, able to look at an item and almost instinctively know what it is, identify its provenance, and estimate its value. Her ability in this is truly prodigious, and she is certainly one of only a handful of people in the world able to do it so well.

ATHLETICS[]

Novice

Prudence has always been active, though never a full fitness nut. She was a cheerleader in high school and continues to stay in shape.

FIREARMS[]

Novice

Prudence also learned how to properly use and care for firearms. She doesn't necessarily LIKE them but she is comfortable around them and is willing to use one if the situation requires it. She can group seven out of ten shots inside the 8-ring of a 25-meter pistol target.

HISTORY[]

Expert

Prue graduated from Gold State University with top honors, having immersed herself in the study of history. She truly has a gift for it and is able to retain remarkable amounts of information accurately, as well as being able to absorb even ancient languages and comprehend the context of the ancient world.

LORE[]

Competent

Prue possesses an excellent working knowledge of witchcraft and the world she and her sisters have been thrust into as witches. Experience has taught her various other things, and her education and knowledge has helped her to apply this pragmatically.

MARTIAL ARTS[]

Competent

Having taken martial arts classes ever since she was a teenager, Prue is skilled beyond simple self-defense. She is competent enough to fend for herself in a fight, even without the use of magic or her other powers.

PHOTOGRAPHY[]

Competent

Prue has always loved photography, and she began to pursue it as a serious hobby in college. She has an innate aesthetic sense for the framing of a picture, and she is trained even in the use of complex photography equipment.

SPELLCASTING[]

Expert

The strongest caster of the Halliwell sisters, Prue alone is a formidable witch. She has a natural talent for casting spells, and while she does not have encyclopedic knowledge of them, with the proper reference and ingredients she can perform a spell or ritual in a class with the very best.

POWERS[]

ALCHEMY[]

Enhanced

Prue can craft potions by brewing reagents and other ingredients for a specific purpose. Most potions Prue can craft are for a single purpose and a single use. Even so, she is able to craft batches at the same time.

ASTRAL PROJECTION[]

Enhanced

Prudence can separate her spirit from her body to enter the astral plane. As a witch, she can still defend herself there, and she can also travel some distance away and appear to others. Only the most perceptive in matters of the supernatural or the spirit world would recognize her appearance as anything but truly human, unless they tried to touch her. They would pass right through her form, which is essentially a hologram.

Prue can also apply her ability to project holographic representations of images in her imagination. When making phone calls, for example, she can use this power to generate a hologram of the person on the other end of the conversation. The power can be used to create various distractions, including copies of herself. They are as physically insubstantial as any other astral projection, but they do at least appear visually consistent with her mental imagery, requiring focus and an eye for detail.

SCRYING[]

Enhanced

With the use of a tool such as a pendulum, crystal ball, reflective surface, or something similar, Prue can locate objects and beings in various planes. Her scrying ability is strongest in the physical and astral planes.

TELEKINESIS[]

Enhanced

Prue can move objects or beings with her mind. Typically, this requires for her to also be in some sensory contact with the target, such as being able to see it or being in physical contact with it. Her telekinesis can perform feats such as lifting a sizable vehicle or bending metal bars at their present strongest.

Telematerialization: Prue is also able essentially to teleport certain substances short distances, although this is related to her telekinetic ability rather than the meteorological teleportation she is able to do. Generally she has only experimented with things like water, creamer for coffee, and similarly liquid or very small solid substances, doing things like adding creamer to coffee or filling a cup with water.

Flight: Prue is able to apply her telekinesis in order to fly. She can only fly about as fast as a bird, and she generally would not exceed a thousand feet in altitude. A difficult power to maintain, she is generally only able to maintain this feat for five or so minutes at a time. She is also able to hover a few feet off the ground, which she can maintain for some time with proper concentration and minimal movement. She could potentially take a couple of people with her in flight, but it would reduce the amount of time she could remain aloft and require more focus.

TELEPORTATION[]

Basic

Shazam! Okay, not really. But close! Prudence can teleport by riding a lightning bolt. It can only transport herself. She can use this means to travel as far as 10 miles from her location, even on a sunny day. But a thunderclap and bolt strike on a cloudless day would attract a lot of attention. She typically uses it only in a dire emergency.

ADVANTAGES[]

BOOK OF SHADOWS[]

The Book of Shadows is a large, thick family grimoire filled with more than three hundred years of arcane knowledge and information on witchcraft. It is a power unto itself and a huge boon to the Halliwell sisters. When it comes to seeking knowledge of the occult and obscure as well as details on many long thought forgotten potions, spells, and rituals, the book provides an invaluable collected resource. It is added to by every witch of the Warren line who has ever had access to it, making it an artifact of great power to any who can use it. Only beings of generally "good" alignment can touch it; it will teleport itself away from contact with evil.

FAME[]

The Halliwells are known as the Charmed Ones and, as a result, they are instantly recognized in some circles as great witches of prophecy. This can open many doors for them, and some who know of them may trust them much more easily than they would just any witch, providing assistance, information, or resources.

HALLIWELL MANOR[]

Halliwell Manor is in the center of five sacred elemental sites. Its precise location makes it a powerful nexus for the arcane. Not only is the manor home and a safe haven, it also functions as a source of great power because of its exact position.

POWER OF THREE[]

Witches are well known for the "Power of Three." That is, they are especially adept at combining their individual strengths in order to cast much more powerful, impactful magics. Some of the most powerful spells a witch can cast require a circle of others to cast, and a circle is usually formed out of triads of witches, each wielding the Power of Three.

Power of Three spells can be done by any three witches, but they have to have the same focus on their goal and ideally be on the same page. Witches who are at odds with each other may even have the spell fail or go wrong. For even greater effect, various groups of three can assemble into larger circles of nine or twelve, and a circle of thirteen is particularly potent.

WEAKNESSES[]

FAME[]

The Halliwells are known as the Charmed Ones and, as a result, they are instantly recognized in some circles as great witches of prophecy. Because of this, they effectively have targets painted on them. Fame is a double-edged sword, and it's all the more dangerous when the unknown can hold great risk. The grand destiny of the Charmed Ones directly threatens a number of beings and places others in uncomfortable and uncertain situations. More than a few of these beings would jump at the chance to take the Charmed Ones out of the equation entirely.

PERSONAL GAIN[]

The Charmed Ones are not supposed to use magic for what is termed personal gain. While the definition of the term has a broad application, they are generally forbidden from using magic for self-serving ends, such as petty or vengeful goals. When magic is used for personal gain, it has a greater chance of either failing or going disastrously wrong.

POWER OF THREE[]

The Charmed Ones are able to tap into their grand destiny when they are together and of one mind and goal. Separate them, and they are only as strong as their own resolve and power. Undermine their unity, and they are just as weak, even when together; the three-corded rope begins to unravel slowly.

SISTERS[]

The sisters would do anything to help each other. For Prudence, it is an almost motherly protective instinct for Piper and Phoebe. Having helped raise them and look after them after the death of their mother and in the absence of their father, she is fiercely protective of them. It could easily be used against her.

STUBBORN[]

Prue is notoriously stubborn. While sometimes this may be a great advantage when she sets her resolve, sometimes too she may simply come off as unwilling to budge or set in her ways.

Born as one of the prophesied Charmed Ones, Prudence Halliwell developed great control over her witchcraft at an early age. She and Piper got along as siblings do, through closeness and conflict. But then their mother Patty was forced to give a warlock named Nicholas immunity to the girls' powers, and Penny, their grandmother, was the one to bind their abilities and alter their memories, for their protection. Their mother died fighting evil, leaving Penny and Victor, their father, to raise the girls. Repeated clashes between Penny and Victor eventually drove him away for almost twenty years.

Prue stepped into the role of caretaker, as not only the oldest, but also the most responsible. She grew to resent their father, never realizing the complexity of the situation, and threw herself into study and achievement, graduating with honors from Gold State University and immediately going to work at the American Museum of Natural History.

Shortly thereafter, Penny died, and the girls came together at her house once again. As they had all three gone their separate ways over the years, it was a strange reunion. It quickly grew stranger, as they learned about their gifts of witchcraft and their legacy, as well as their spectacular destiny as the Charmed Ones. Prue changed jobs to Buckland Auction House and resumed her role as caretaker and most responsible of the three, learning so much in that first year back together about witchcraft and the memories of a magical world she had lost.

Eventually, the sisters were forced to go back in time after meeting the warlock Nicholas, who possessed a ring that had been blessed to defend him against their powers. With the help of their mother and grandmother, they were able to return to the present and vanquish Nicholas, as well as learn about their forgotten childhoods in magic.

After the owner of Buckland was revealed to be a warlock in disguise, who had tried to frame Prue for the theft of a priceless tiara, Prue was moved to quit the auction house and try to find herself and what she might want to do in life. Having enjoyed photography in her younger years, she took the hobby up again, intent on trying to enjoy life and grow a bit more as a person.
