Prue invites Angel over to look at a manuscript, but reveals she has designs on the Champion Vampire. While tempted, Angel resists, in part by keeping Buffy foremost in his thoughts.

Halliwell Manor[]

Prudence Halliwell figured the least she could do was invite Angel back over after the manuscript was found. It may be quaint to him but at least it was a gesture of a sort? Trying to be friendly? She'd come across an incomplete, authenticated copy of the notes and a few chapters of Bram Stoker's Dracula. She thought it might hold some interest to him to at least see, from amusement over inaccuracies if nothing else.

Angel shakes his head. "I'm not sure Bram Stoker even met Dracula." The vampires descripted there only match one particular breed of vampire...the Dracul House and order. "But most of the stuff in here aren't things I can do." Much as it would be useful if he could do those things.

Prudence Halliwell grins, "He was an author of fiction. He took the stories and myth of Eastern Europe and made it into what would sell. Like Mary Shelly did with Frankenstein." She looks at the manusript and back to him. "Just figured you'd find it entertaining to see. Maybe I have a warped sense of humor.."

"Funny thing is, he got just enough right that it's now common knowledge that you should shove a stake through a vampire's heart, or shove them into the sun." And that's been a good thing for hunters everywhere, who'd otherwise have an even worse time trying to kill the undead then they already do. "It is kinda funny, even if it did do unintended good."

Prudence Halliwell nods. "Well now I don't feel so bad dragging you over here to look at something so patently full of misinformation.." she quips wryly. "I'm going to put it in the shop tomorrow morning but thought you'd like to see it first."

"Sometimes, people want stories. But as long as it gets a couple key things right...the misinformation that's the rest of it...the world can live with that. Not every story needs to have all the accuracy of a Watcher's Diary." Angel was apparently feeling forgiving, judging the good the book did greater then whatever harm the misinformation might've done.

Prudence Halliwell nods. "It's an insightful perspective." She looks at the manuscript and closes it, brushing her hair back as she stands up and moves to set it aside till work the next day. She looks back at him with a smile.

Angel halfsmiles back at her. "So...anything else you have in mind besides the manuscript?" Angel was old enough to read people, and he had an idea she might have something else on her mind besides evaluating a book to sell.

Prudence Halliwell looks up and laughs lightly, glancing through her lashes. "I don't know? I mean.. " she blushes a little. "..sorry." She shrugs a bit, "No. That was all. You'd just.. given me trouble about not being more sociable.. so I thought I'd invite you over to see this... that was mostly it."

Angel did do that, didn't he? And now he catches the blush. Ah. That. Well, he was called the 'one with the Angelic Face' for a damn good reason. Between that and the general demeanor... well, now he had a choice didn't he? He couldn't give the lovely young woman in front of him his heart, it'd been claimed already. It got claimed by a young blonde woman called to be a Slayer, and then a Champion. "...You do understand my heart got claimed a long time ago, right?"

Prudence Halliwell blushes furiously now. "... oh god. yeah.. well. " she looks away then back. "I'm not exactly a girl who has luck with hearts and love. It never works out so..." She looks back up at him, "I'm kind of pathetic."

Angel now looks a little concerned. This is reminding him a little of Faith. But perhaps Prue isn't quite so far gone down the aromantic path as Faith. "No, you aren't pathetic. You're looking for something you need. Everyone does that. Some people are lucky enough to find it quickly. For others, it takes a long time. I'm 289 years old and I didn't find the right girl till 5 years ago." Hopefully it won't take Prue centuries, though! Humans, even witches, just don't live that long. "But what do you want, then? A wise young lady I ran into once told me about the concept of cookie dough. Sometimes...you just aren't done baking. Sometimes you need to grow and figure out who you are before you can welcome someone else into your life on a permanent basis. If that describes you, though, you still have another choice to make. Whether to scratch the itch you're feeling...or wait for the baking to finish. Either choice will flavor the cookies you eventually become. But only you can decide what you want that flavor to be." One way to keep centered...use words Buffy herself once told him to keep her in featuring heavily in his thoughts.

Prudence Halliwell eyes him, "You're talking to me about sex by using cookie dough as an analogy...." she shakes her head, "That is really not very erotic, sorry today..." she laughs, the tension seemingly broken just the same. She brushes her hair back. "But.... yeah. Um. It's been... some time since any itches were... scratched... with company anyway" she clarifies as she shifts her gaze a bit.

Angel knows it's not very erotic, because well, "Mmm. It's not. Because cookie dough was more about life choices and love. You said you were unlucky about it. About being ready for someone special. Now, if we're talking about the scratch that itch flavor..." Well. He's a little torn about that. On the one hand, Prue's a beautiful woman, and he hasn't exactly been celibate in Los Angeles. On the other hand, Buffy can't be too far away right? "Then what kind of spell are you looking to cast?" Apparently he's going to use magic as sex.

Prudence Halliwell looks up at him. And without shame states, "Something fast and effective" her tone is a bit wry as she twirls a lock of hair around her index finger.

Fast and effective. "Interesting choice of spell." Mmmm. "Well, you think about that. There's many types of spellcasting out there. And many people to cast spells with." Angel's decided this isn't the night for this particular spell. "Make sure of what, and who, you want." Angel, for now, will leave. And feels better about himself upon doing so. So very easy to falter just because a loved one has been absent. But he's made Buffy cry enough times. No more. Particularly not for the kind of mortal failings his human self as Liam was only too willing to engage in.
