Eva gives Mikhail the ring she bought for him and he thanks her in a way she isn't expecting.

Eva Whitecroft's Room, San Francisco

It's the day after Eva's shopping trip and she's in her room with the window cracked open as usual. She's gotten into the habit of leaving it open for a fresh breeze to come in since she has no ceiling fan. As she lays on her bed on her stomach, legs up and kicking back and forth, she has a notepad in her hand and a pen. The notepad is blank, she's still struggling with lyrics. "Maybe I should let her help me..." she muses to herself. "She did offer. Or maybe I need some music to write to, that's an idea. But we haven't got any music sorted out yet. Hmph." Talking to herself, again.

Mikhail enters the room via his usual method, the open window, for a vampire he looks rather tired, still he smiles as he enters as silently as possible, walking over he tries to read whatever it is over Eva's shoulder, "Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness Supergirl."

Eva looks up in surprise at hearing Mikhail's voice. "Oh gosh, I'm gonna have to get used to you doing that, aren't I?" She's not upset though, smiling instead. As she taps the notepad with her pen she explains "I was trying to come up with lyrics. Just thinking out loud about some ways to maybe write something good. Bits and pieces float around in my head, but nothing really comes together without sounding corny." Shrugging one shoulder, she goes on "So how have you been?"

Mikhail nods, "Yep, unless you want the folks to know the undead visits you every night." He sits on the bed, "Start by writing what you know, doesn't have to be epic just, you've got to feel it," he shrugs, "You know me, always walking on air, how're you feeling?"

Eva thinks over what he said for a moment. "Yeah, I think my parents would have heart attacks or strokes or something similar if they knew I was hanging out with a vampire. Um. If they even knew about vampires. Or something." She shrugs. "As for me, I'm feeling just fine. Better than fine, actually." Reaching around the bed, she grabs something from a bag on the side of it. "As a matter of fact, I got you something yesterday. It's a gift, just because. No real reason. You want it?" She holds the simple box out teasingly in one hand, sticking her tongue out at him.

Mikhail raises an eyebrow, "You bought me something?" He's unsure for a moment before holding out a hand for it, "You didn't have to do that, but thanks." It was just her birthday not his and he just doesn't get gifts, it feels odd.

Eva hands over the box with a giggle. "I hope you like it." The box is a small, square blue box. Inside is some stuffing, the kind that usually surrounds jewelry. Under the first layer is a small ring. A plan silver band, it has black enamel shapes all along the outside of the ring - music notes. She holds her breath as she waits to see his reaction.

Mikhail looks at the ring for a moment before taking it out of the box and putting it on the finger next to the finger he wears his other ring on, looks at it again for a second before kissing the waiting Slayer.

Eva closes her eyes as Mikhail kisses her, a little surprised but not at all complaining. "Well that was a surprise," she admits softly. About the ring, she explains "I thought if I gave this to you, that you'd think of me whenever you saw it. We all have moments when we're upset or things seem like too much for us. Like the other night when you showed up at my room all of a sudden." She pauses, then continues "So whenever you have one of those moments, you can look at your hand and remember that you always have someone on your side. Even though I may not be there right at that moment, I'm not far away." She smiles as she finishes her explanation, tilting her head up at him. She brings her fingertips up to brush her lips, then adds "I appreciate the thank you kiss."

"Thank you", Mikhail replies softly, he looks at the ring again before his eyes move to the other one he wears and he's just kind of silent for a moment. "This means a lot more than you know..." he forces himself to snap out of the sappy, he grins, "So, add that kiss to my list of supernatural powers?"

Eva's eyes twinkle as she says mischievously "I don't know if it's supernatural or not... might need another few of them just to be sure and confirm that sort of thing." She winks at him after saying that. "I'm really glad you like it," she adds. "I have your necklace, I kinda just wanted you to have something from me, too. And I have no idea when your birthday is, so..." She trails off. "There's kind of a lot I don't know about you. It never really seemed important. I guess I'll find out with time."

Mikhail grins, "Guess we'll have to make time for me to prove my skills then won't we?" He nods, "Again thank you and it's February Seventeenth, not a big secret, could've gone with that instead of the Elena question the other day."

As Elena gets brought up, Eva just shrugs. "Hey, I had to make sure there wasn't any competition to worry about. It was the second time that girl's name came up." She doesn't talk about Elena anymore, though, changing the subject. "So February 17th huh? See, I would have had to wait a whole year to give you a gift. Now I know, I can come up with something even better to give you in... nine months." She has to do the date math in her head.

"No hurry, you already got me something and it's not like I'd be getting any older anyway, bonus of vampirism," Mikhail looks at the door, "Your parents been getting suspicious yet? I mean this has started to become something of a regular thing."

Eva shrugs at the mention of vampirism. "Yeah, I know you aren't getting any older for real. But it's still a birthday. We'll worry about it when it comes, then." She smiles at him, then glances at the door as well. "I dunno. Mom doesn't usually check on me. Their bedroom is downstairs, so she has to actually come up. She doesn't do that often. Sometimes right before bed. The rest of the time they pretty much leave me alone, they know I'll come find them if I need something." She reaches out to rest her hand on his. "Why, you afraid of getting caught?"

Mikhail grins, "No I'm not afraid but it's rather fun the thought that we could easily be caught, also I agreed not to compel your parents so I'd have to think pretty darn quickly to get out of such a situation." Shame cause he's getting pretty adept at compulsion.

Eva caresses Mikhail's hand softly. "Can you do me a favor? Just a little one? I know you have fun with that compulsion thing, but I'd really rather you not do it. It's really mean, in a way, to take away a person's free will. I don't like the thought of you doing that. It should be, like, an emergency thing. Not just 'oh I need something, let me compel someone' and whatever." She pauses, then adds "I asked Angel to help me get you a real identity. So you can be a real guy, not just some invisible intangible drifter. Just... it would mean a lot to me if you could try, for me, just to be normal. I know you're not. I'm not. I get that. But its worth at least making the effort, right?"

"You're right, I'm not normal, I don't know how to be normal," Mikhail honestly would rather not be normal but gets the feeling that's not what Eva wants to hear, the normal boy Mikhail was, Nicolae died a long time ago and the thought of going back to who that was terrifies him.

Eva keeps caressing Mikhail's hand in a soothing way. "Well, I know how to be normal. Why don't we try to figure it out together? I know you can do this, Mik. Just... give it a shot, you know? What can it hurt?" She sits up and leans into him, rubbing her shoulder against his. "Don't you think it would be nice... if we could just pretend? Even if we aren't normal. So what? We can make believe. Do normal things together."

"Nu poate m-ai accepta ca eu sunt?" Mikhail sighs, "I can try," and while it will mean bringing a whole lot of pain onto himself he will try.

Eva blinks and looks at him funny. "I have no idea what you said just now. But I'm happy with the second part." Reaching up with her hand, she tilts his head to the side and kisses him softly. "Thank you. This means a lot to me. You have no idea." She reaches down and rests her hand over his, the one with the rings on it. "Just look at the ring and think of me whenever you're tempted to do something... you know... not necessarily so nice." She's talking mainly about compulsion, of course.

Mikhail nods, "Ok, just remember, when you start getting bored of me, this is what you asked for, you just got Spiderman to agree to be Peter Parker." Even vampires know basic pop culture, "I should go, your folks are wondering if you're talking to someone."

Eva looks at him and nods. "I'm not asking Spiderman to be Peter Parker all the time. Just some of the time. Be Spiderman when you need to be Spiderman. Be Peter Parker the rest of the time." As she gives him a peck on the cheek she adds "You're too interesting for me to get bored. Besides, I still have to figure out if your kisses have supernatural power." She winks at him and says "Bye!"
